BONDED OPERATIONS
The schemes for Customs bonded operations permit import of goods suspending payment of Customs duty and levies under two important schemes:
Bonded Warehousing
Facilitates trading activities where no processing is involved to the extent that such processing does not change the nature of the goods imported. Examples are duty free trade, entrepôt trade, bunker trade and special commodity bonds.
Bonded Manufacturing
Facilitates processing or manufacturing activities where the end product is different from the raw materials put into the process. Examples are automobile assembly and garment manufacturing.
Plant in Bonds
A scheme to facilitate investment targeting to achieve certain strategic economic objectives. Examples are dairy industry, waste to energy conversions, renewable energy projects.
